A practical A2 English lesson on quantifiers, there is / there are, food vocabulary and cooking. Ideal for adult learners, English tutors, and language schools.

Content Block. Whose Fridge Is This?
Content Block
Look inside three fridges. Who do they belong to: a student before exams, a bodybuilder, or a family with a baby?
Fridge 1 There are a lot of eggs — maybe twenty! There's some chicken, a lot of rice in a box and many bottles of water. There isn't any chocolate, and there aren't any sweets. There's a big protein shake on the top shelf.
Fridge 2 There isn't much food in this fridge. There's half a pizza from Saturday, some cheese, a lot of energy drinks and one sad apple. There isn't any milk, and there aren't any vegetables.
Fridge 3 There's a lot of milk and some yoghurt. There are a few carrots and some apples. There are some small jars of baby food on the door. There isn't much space — the fridge is full!

Four flatmates share one fridge. Yesterday evening, Kate bought food for her birthday party today: a big chocolate cake, six eggs and some cheese. This morning, the cake is gone, there are only two eggs, and there isn't any cheese! One flatmate ate the food last night — and now they are lying.
